Jiangsu"s CPI decreased by 0.1% year-on-year in July, another negative growth after 31 months, the provincial squad of the national statistics bureau said on Wednesday.

Statistics show that in July, Jiangsu recorded a year-on-year decrease of 0.1% in consumer price index, resulting primarily from the high base of the same period last year and fluctuations in food prices.

Among the eight major categories of goods and services, healthcare prices increased by 3.0%, transportation and communication prices decreased by 5.7%, and residential prices remained unchanged.

In July, the year-on-year increase in food prices across the province from 3.3% last month to a decrease of 0.8%, becoming the main reason for the year-on-year decline in CPI, with pork prices experiencing the largest decrease of 23.7%.

The province’s consumer price index has ended its "five consecutive declines" trend, with a 0.4% month-on-month increase in July. The price of education, culture, and entertainment increased by 1.4%, while the price of clothing decreased by 0.2%.
